Trout and more

The Cinque Terre area does not need introduction; known for the rugged coastline, picturesque villages and turquoise waters, Cinque Terre are amongst the most sought after destinations in Italy, attracting millions of tourists every year. But not many visitors know that just a few miles from the coast lies a totally different world, made of remote mountains, ancient forests and crystal clear streams, home to endemic mediterranean trout (Salmo Cettii).  These waters offers a great opportunity for visiting anglers to sample a very different kind of trout fishing in a half day excursion.

Neither many visitors would know  that some of the finest fly fishing waters of North West Italy are located no more than two hours away from Cinque Terre and can be easily reached in a day trip, or even better in a two or three day excursion which will give opportunity to combine trout fishing at finest with a true italian country side experience.

And even fewer anglers would imagine that from mid August to late October the Cinque Terre coastal waters become an hot spot for light bluewater fishing, with large schools of juvenile mahi mahi, frigate tunas and false albacore migrating inshore to prey on anchovy shoals and offering some of the best saltwater fly fishing in the Northern Mediterranean.
